Why I Created Ourz Scrubs: A Black-Owned Brand for Real Curves

Ourz Scrubs is a Black-owned scrub brand I founded after years of never finding scrubs that fit my curves or reflected who I was in healthcare. Standard scrubs were cut boxy and straight - baggy at the waist, tight at the hips and bust - and nothing was designed for women who look like me. So I built it: curve-conscious scrubs in a soft, stretchy blend, sizes XS-3XL, made for the women who wear them every shift.
Here's the story - and what it means for the scrubs themselves.
The problem most scrub brands ignore
For most of my career, getting dressed for work meant compromise. Size up and swim in fabric at the waist; size down and strain across the hips and chest. The "curvy" option was usually just a bigger version of the same straight cut - never actually designed for a fuller figure.
And it wasn't only fit. I rarely saw scrubs made with women like me in mind.
What you wear to work should make you feel like yourself, not like you're borrowing someone else's uniform.
What I decided to build instead
Ourz Scrubs started from one idea: design the scrub around the body, not the other way around. That meant:
A curve-conscious cut - relaxed and flattering, never boxy - for curvy and plus-size figures.
Flattering details: a clean V-neck top with double front pockets and a generous length, and a bootcut pant that lengthens the leg.
A soft 62% rayon / 32% nylon / 6% spandex blend with stretch that moves through a 12-hour shift.
A true XS-3XL range, graded so every size gets the same considered fit.

Why "Black-owned" is part of the story
Ourz Scrubs is a Black-owned brand, and that's the point, not a footnote. It was built by a healthcare worker for the women underserved by every other option - curvy, plus-size, and rarely seen in the brands they were expected to buy. Ourz exists so that showing up to hard, essential work doesn't mean settling for a fit, or a brand, that was never made for you.
Who Ourz Scrubs is for
Nurses, techs, assistants, students and providers - curvy and plus-size women in healthcare who want scrubs that actually fit and feel like them. If you've never quite seen yourself in scrubs either, that's exactly who this is for.
